This course will look at sources of financial assistance for clients who are struggling to meet their financial burdens.

Nevin Economic Research Institute (NERI) has also found that those living in both the social and private rented sectors are at risk of poverty after housing costs are met. This is particularly the case for low-income households in the private rented sector, who face a particularly high housing cost burden and a high risk of poverty.

Understand the various forms of discretionary support, financial assistance and charitable support that is available, in the interests of alleviating poverty and promoting greater security of tenure.

This course will assist tenants in understanding where responsibility lies for repairs within Private Tenancies. It will also discuss rights & obligations for both parties within the tenancy. It covers the legislation protecting tenants and landlords as well as discussing the recent updates to HMO properties. We will also discuss possible funding, including grants available for improvements to a property.

Talking about money isn’t always easy. However, getting children used to talking about money early can help them avoid financial issues in the future. Talk, Learn, Do (TLD) is an evidence-based parenting intervention developed by the Money Advice Service to help parents of 3-11 year olds talk to their children about money.

People experiencing homelessness often have face challenges around mental and psychological wellbeing. Services take a wide range of approaches to support people struggling with these challenges. One approach which services have adopted is to seek to make their service a ‘Psychologically Informed Environment’ (PIE).

If you have a key role in organising, facilitatiing and following up on meetings then this Workshop will focus on some of those steps you should take to ensure that those involved participate and engage fully during the meeting/session/workshop. This will be relevant whether there are only 2 people participating or for much larger gatherings.
