Lagan Dragons is Northern Ireland’s first ever breast cancer survivor Dragon Boat team, formed in September 2015, with training sessions from Belfast Boat Club, 12 Lockview Road, Belfast. Our team is open and inclusive to all, however, we are primarily made up of breast cancer survivors, family members and medical professionals who have supported us and been involved in our diagnoses and treatment, but we welcome new members of all ages, backgrounds and abilities!

Learning Disability Pride is a celebration of people with a learning disability, which raises awareness and challenges stereotypes, with a focus on an inclusive and fun day out for families, individuals and groups.

This qualification recognises the skills, knowledge and competence required of an individual in order to work in an unsupervised capacity, including the values and principles of adult social care and the ability to plan and deliver chair–based exercise to either disabled adults or frailer older adults.

By completing this qualification, learners will meet industry requirements to become a Gym Instructor, as set out within the CIMSPA professional standard. The purpose of this qualification is to enable learners to: Maintain health, safety, and hygiene in the gym-based environment. Supervise and support clients in a gym-based environment. Plan, deliver and evaluate gym-based exercise programmes. Completing this qualification allows learners to access jobs instructing gym-based exercise sessions.

This qualification will equip personal trainers with a deep understanding of: The Menopausal Experience Personal trainers will explore the stages and effects of menopause, delving into the physiological and psychological impacts of decreasing hormone levels. Overcoming Barriers Menopause often introduces barriers to physical activity, particularly for individuals navigating the perimenopausal and post-menopausal phases. The qualification will provide personal trainers with insights into identifying health risk factors and considerations for training, ensuring the safety of their clients. Empowerment Through Intervention A critical aspect of this qualification is the introduction of interventions and strategies designed to offset the effects of menopause. These encourage individuals to engage in physical activity confidently and with the knowledge that they are being supported in their wellness journey.

By completing this qualification, learners will meet industry requirements to support exercise and physical activity for healthy and non-complicated antenatal and postnatal clients, as set out within the CIMSPA professional standard. The purpose of this qualification is to enable learners to develop the knowledge to support exercise, physical activity, health and wellbeing during the perinatal period (pregnancy and postnatal). This includes when and how to signpost to other services, where necessary.

By completing this qualification, learners will meet industry requirements to: – Plan, deliver and evaluate Pilates reformer sessions and programmes, including: – Pilates-based group reformer sessions (6+)

By completing this qualification, existing gym instructors can expand their scope of practice to deliver personal training. This qualification meets industry requirements to become a Personal Trainer, as set out within the CIMSPA professional standard. The purpose of this qualification is to enable learners to: Consult and assess clients’ needs and support them towards their health and fitness goals. Plan, deliver and evaluate indoor and outdoor personal training sessions to support individuals (one-to-one) and small groups. Apply methods of marketing to promote their own personal training business.
