Liberty Consortium manage the Playtrail project, located within the grounds of Ardnashee School & College. The site is used to provide programmes for children & young people aswell as Transition Services for young adults with learning disabilies.

Working with local schools, community groups and the wider community, we aim to:

  • Promote inclusion; facilitate play, participation and increased physical activity
  • Promote environmental and community awareness
  • Provide Intergenerational programmes promoting ‘family’
  • Address educational disengagement, social isolation and limited community interaction

Liberty Consortium run a range of programmes ranging from play based projects, team-building, Forest Schools and other community based activities. We also offer an array of transition services for young people with learning disabilities going through the transition process, leaving school into adult life. These include the HOPE, SOLVE and BUD programmes (see included information materials), all of which seek to provide each young person with the skills needed to embrace the change.

The Consortium receive funding from a range of funders although currently do not receive core funding. We do however have the ability to generate our own income through a range of activities carried out on-site and further afield, including consultancy work carried out by Community Interest Company (Liberty Consortium Enterprises CIC). We work closely with a range of partners including Derry City Council and EA Western both of which are represented on the Consortium Board.
