Bolster Community is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Mourne Sure Start team in the role of Project Support. Based in Kilkeel, this part-time temporary position will run until March 2026 and is focused on delivering play-based learning activities for children aged 0–4 years. If you are passionate about early years development and working closely with families in the community, we would love to hear from you.
  • Salary: £23,809.50 (pro-rata)

  • Pension: 6% employer contribution (subject to conditions)

  • Holidays: 25 days annual leave plus statutory holidays (pro-rata)

  • Travel: Expenses reimbursed in line with Bolster Community’s policy

 

Purpose of the Role

The Project Support role will work under the direction of the Programme Facilitator to help plan, deliver, and support engaging play and educational programmes for children aged 0–4 years, ensuring they are developmentally appropriate, inclusive, and enjoyable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and delivery of Sure Start play programmes.

  • Provide a safe, stimulating environment with a range of activities (e.g. stories, art, sensory play) suitable to the age and development of each child.

  • Prepare the playroom and kitchen before sessions and help tidy afterwards.

  • Promote positive relationships with children and their parents/carers.

  • Support the emotional, physical and cognitive development of each child in accordance with the Sure Start model.

  • Maintain hygiene standards and ensure the appropriate use and maintenance of equipment.

  • Uphold principles of equality, inclusion, and child safeguarding in all aspects of the role.

General Duties

  • Represent Mourne Sure Start and Bolster Community in a professional manner.

  • Participate in planning meetings, training, supervision and evaluations as required.

  • Support the organisation of community events, outings, and other programme activities.

  • Adhere to all relevant Bolster Community policies, including Health & Safety, Confidentiality, Child Protection, and Equal Opportunities.

  • Maintain a commitment to personal development and organisational values.

  • Carry out additional tasks reasonably required within the scope of the role.
