Organ Donation NI is now on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!

Organ donation is often described as the 'gift of life'.  And it's amazing to know that just 1 donor can save and transform the lives of up to 9 people.

However, there are around 115 people in Northern Ireland on the transplant waiting list and every year around 10-15 people in Northern Ireland die waiting for an organ transplant.  While it is very encouraging to know that 93% of people in Northern Ireland support organ donation, only 49% of us have got round to signing the Organ Donor Register. That's why we want to encourage everyone to have the conversation with those close to them: to sign the register, and share your decision.

Whatever your decision, please do talk about it and record it.  Sadly, only around half of families agree to organ donation if they don't know the organ donation decision of their loved one, however this rises to 9 out of 10 when the decision is known.
