Creative Industries New Entrants programme (CINE)

CINE - Creative Industries New Entrants programme

The Creative Industries New Entrants programme (CINE) is an initiative which is broadening access to the screen and creative industries at entry level.

Funded by the Department for Communities, Northern Ireland Screen is working in partnership with BBC Northern Ireland; the scheme has helped identify new talent. In line with UK-wide screen industry initiatives applicants from underrepresented ethnic minority, socio-economic, and disabled communities were prioritised, to expand our growing creative industries sector and create a more diverse generation of ‘New Entrants’ of all ages.

Our outreach ambition for this year is to build on the success of the CINE Scheme, which successfully placed 93 trainees in paid employment for up to two years. We aim to engage with voluntary and community groups whose clients have compelling stories to share. While we are still finalising the offer, we believe that a consultation period to gauge interest and shape the delivery plan would be advantageous. Broadly, we envision facilitating a development process that enables these stories to be produced in a visual format. This initiative will provide insights into the production process, foster skills development, and offer participants the opportunity to explore common themes and highlight important narratives.

In the first instance we’d like to speak with interested organisations about their views on the potential of this type of engagement and see if we can convene a group of creatives to come together and develop a story.
