Various roles with STEP

STEP

Making a difference in the world starts with a step… Step needs • volunteers, trainees / interns • workers with qualifications but little experience • workers with loads of experience but few qualifications

We can help you fill the gaps in your career paths as you help us fill the gaps in our workforce.

What do we need you to bring to the table? 

  • Sound Ethics

  • A belief in a fair day’s work for a fair day’s pay
  • A capacity to share what you know and learn what you don’t to secure solutions for today that last beyond tomorrow
  • Respect for and solidarity with those for whom life is hard. Pity won’t solve their problem.

We currently have an increased demand for our services and have secured resources for additional posts:

People needed with specific qualifications & experience

  • Immigration advisors (OISC 2 or 3); or solicitor (eligible to practice) with some immigration experience (we need the equivalent of two full-time workers, so f/t and p/t work will be equally considered)
  • Social Security Tribunals advocate (p/t) solicitor eligible to practice or qualified / experienced advocate at this level
  • Welfare Reform - Benefits advisors specialising in the new ‘Welfare Reform’ regulations (equivalent of two full-time posts: f/t or p/t work will be considered
  • Bilingual  advice staff ( EUSS Registration project)  advice / interpreting  experience

 

People with qualifications and little or no experience / experience and few / no qualifications

  • General Welfare Advisors:  f/t (level 3 advice qualification or no qualification consistent experience and practice over past three years (paid or unpaid)
  • Community workers (p/t) : (level 3 advice qualification or  no qualification  consistent experience and practice  over past three years  (paid or unpaid) 
  • Support Workers (one-to-one) (level 3 advice qualification or no qualification consistent experience and practice over past three years (paid or unpaid)
