Relentless Youth Worker - Fixed term 1 year contract (with potential extension subject to funding)

The Relentless Youth Worker’s (RYW) core function is to engage with young people to inspire, motivate and support them to engage in Youth Participation Projects.

This will include work on a range of other NIYF projects such as community relations programmes; youth participation initiatives; campaigning and issue based work.

The Relentless Youth Worker will be required to:

    1. Take the lead on a range of NIYF projects adopting a Relentless Youth Work approach.

 

    1. Oversee and coordinate these projects including management of project budgets.

 

    1. Work as part of a team to manage, develop, support and deliver NIYF participation programmes aligned to NIYF’s ‘Champions 4 Change’ model of participation.

 

    1. Liaise closely with strategic partners and coordinate regular meetings with staff and volunteers.

 

    1. Establish transformational relationships with young people living in extreme circumstances supporting them to engage in participation, personal/social development and good relations programmes.  This will also include the signposting of support services to young people.

 

    1. In a group and/or one-to-one environment, support young people to explore a range of attitudes, beliefs and values, for e.g. emotional resilience, individual behaviour, choices & consequences, criminality, employability, youth support networks, leadership, community, identity, justice & welfare etc, education,

 

    1. Design and deliver a bespoke and innovative personal development programmes to groups of young people.

 

    1. Engage in outreach activity and one to one mentoring work that fosters long - term relationships that assist in guiding a young person at-risk through the Stages of Change.

 

    1. Do what it takes in a relentless (and appropriate) fashion to ‘walk beside’ a young person and build a strong transformational relationship that will help young people at risk transition from living harmful lifestyles into a healthy and safe lifestyles.

 

    1. Undertake baseline assessments of participants to measure distance travelled, developing individual development plans based on identified need, against project outcomes.
