To engage with academic staff to establish each school’s expectations and needs with respect to utilising technology to enhance course content; structuring blended learning courses to enhance teaching learning.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

  1. Instructional Design and Multimedia Development  

  • Work with curriculum colleagues as they design and redesign blended learning courses for online delivery, helping them to produce Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) content for multiple digital platforms and channels including the Canvas (LMS)  

  • Responsible for the development of project specific e-learning, interactive training materials for the internal training and development of staff and for use within the curriculum to enhance the learner experience. Content development may be through the use of but not limited to: 

  • PHP; Microsoft Visual Basic; SharePoint; SharePoint Designer and Microsoft Info Path 

  • MS SQL, MySQL or similar.   

  • JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3.  

  • Articulate Storyline, Adobe Animate or other E-Learning Software and Authoring Tools 

  • Coordinate digital content and ensure it is effective (including meeting user needs across multiple devices such as desktops, smartphones and tablets), by setting objectives and constantly monitoring and evaluating for iterative improvement 

  • Responsible for the delivery of projects to pilot, develop and implement new training support materials. 

  • Ensure digital content is both engaging with and integrated into offline content and processes 

  • Recommend, develop and deliver the most appropriate TEL content - including multimedia content and seamless storyboarding to responsive eLearning design 

  • Support the academic and support staff in the development of robust business applications, and provide clear direction in programming techniques, that ensure College Multimedia delivers quality products that can compete within the marketplace, taking into account security requirements   

  • Collaborating with the academic department to determine course-level assessment models and build appropriate assessment into individual courses 

  • Analyse data and use online analytics and customer insight, to inform an agile and always-optimised approach to digital content  

  • Contribute to user research and usability testing  

  • Deliver work to agreed time, cost and quality and ensure efficient use of resources 

  • Identify and recognise barriers to project progress and completion of milestones and deliverables, ensuring remedial action is implemented with reference to the relevant internal and/or external stakeholders   

  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of the external operating environment and respond to advancements in technology and working practices 

 

2. Training Delivery & Support  

  • Provide advice, guidance and training on the effective use of digital content including disseminating best practice on accessibility   

  • Deliver initial training to users and deliver on-going support of the applications 

 

General 

  • To participate in staff development and training programmes as required 

  • To maintain relevant specialist knowledge in media products and standards 

  • To keep up to date with latest developments in IT and relate these to the needs of the College 

  • To promote, implement and ensure compliance with all College policies and procedures.  In particular, to ensure equality of opportunity and the effective application of health and safety procedures for all staff and learners within the School. 

  • To implement and embed the College’s equality and diversity policies and response to its equality and diversity duties as they relate to all stakeholders. 

  • Act, if directed, as Fire Marshall or Fire Warden 

  • To contribute to the achievement of the College’s mission, values and strategic directions 

  • To participate actively in relevant regional and national professional networks 

  • To work flexibly across all online and offline communication disciplines as required by your manager 

  • To deputise for the TEL Manager/Multimedia & Instructional Design Manager at relevant TEL events/conferences as required
