Board Membership

HarmonI Board Member with Property Experience

CO3 Chief Officers 3rd Sector

Expenses only
0.00
As one of the province’s oldest charities, HarmonI is hoping to welcome to the board someone with experience of property planning or development to help encourage sustainable independent living for people who live with disability or disadvantage..

The Role

Providing care and hostel accommodation, HarmonI’s operations require it to regularly review its strategies on its property plans. These approaches will require an expert eye to review green field building proposals, replacement building proposals, and refurbishment options. Like the charity as a whole, the board member we hope to recruit needs to take account of the flexibility required for HarmonI’s built estate to respond to changing service models in the long term.

Skills and Competencies.

The board member will assimilate information about HarmonI’s existing care models and services and help integrate the charity’s property designs to be fit for purpose to deliver those services. In addition, they will assist in future-proofing the charity’s property plans and designs to maximise potential future impact, or minimise disruption and costs, in the event that delivery models change.

The values and behaviours that HarmonI seeks from its board members are based on the Nolan Principles. Those interested in serving as a HarmonI trustee must agree to adhere to the following principles:

1. Selflessness - board members should take decisions solely in terms of the interest of the charity’s beneficiaries.
2. Integrity - board members must avoid placing themselves under any obligation to people or organisations that might try inappropriately to influence them in their role as a board member. They should not act or take decisions in order to gain financial or other material benefits for themselves, their family, or their friends. They must declare and resolve any interests and relationships.
3. Objectivity - board members must act and take decisions impartially, fairly and on merit, using the best evidence and without discrimination or bias.
4. Accountability - board members are accountable for their decisions and actions to the public through the regulators, and must submit themselves to the scrutiny necessary to ensure this.
5. Openness - board members should act and take decisions in an open and transparent manner. Appropriate information should not be withheld from HarmonI’s stakeholders unless there are clear and lawful reasons for so doing.
6. Honesty - board members should be truthful.
7. Leadership - board members should exhibit these principles in their own behaviour. They should actively promote and robustly support the principles and be willing to challenge poor behaviour wherever it occurs.
