Development Officer – Horn of Africa People’s Aid Northern Ireland

   £37,671.79 (NJC scale point 44)

Salary: £17,491.30 pro rata

Hours: 18 hours per week (5 days)

Contract Type: Fixed term (potential for extension subject to funding)

Based at: Horn of Africa People’s Northern Ireland (HAPANI) Office in Belfast

In addition to seeing the big picture of the project, do you have a proven track record of building an organisation’s capacity and acting together with wider stakeholders to create long-lasting solutions for target communities?

Horn of Africa People’s Aid NI (HAPANI) is a small charity based in Botanic Avenue which empower Refugees and Asylum Seekers by creating initiative that brings together Northern Ireland communities, voluntary organisations, businesses, funders and other key stakeholders to provide refugees asylum seekers services and engage volunteers to reduce poverty and all forms of inequality and support wider new communities integration in Northern Ireland. We are passionate about unlocking new communities’ potential and transforming the lives of refugees and asylum seekers by building bridges between communities.

We are currently recruiting a Development Officer who will be responsible for developing HAPANI and enhancing relationships with corporate and small businesses, public agencies, and the voluntary sectors. The post holder will also be required to work with the Racial Equality Subgroup to establish a clear strategy and system to make refugees and asylum seekers integration in Northern Ireland successful.

We are looking for someone who is: dynamic, a self-starter and able to work independently, able to think strategically, and understands corporate and small businesses on the one hand and refugees and asylum seekers need on the other hand. Must be able to: develop good communication to raise awareness of the initiative and develop strategic relationships with public agencies and key partners. The right person could come from a broad background, including the private sector and someone who enjoys challenges and problem-solving.
