Community Cat Champion North Belfast

Cats Protection

.Our community cat champions play an important role in helping promote neutering in local communities. They build relationships with members of the public, encourage people to neuter their cats, dispel neutering myths and help prevent unwanted future cats

At Cats Protection we strongly believe that neutering cats before they can breed is an essential part of cat ownership. Unfortunately some people have misconceptions about neutering, for example, that female cats should have one litter of kittens before being neutered. Our community cat champions play an important role in helping promote neutering in local communities. They build relationships with members of the public, encourage people to neuter their cats, dispel myths about neutering and ultimately help prevent unwanted cats in the future.

What can you expect to be doing?

  • Talking to members of the public day-to-day and at events
  • Promoting neutering campaigns and offering advice
  • Linking with community groups to share neutering messages
  • Attending community events to promote neutering campaigns
  • Helping arrange transport for people to get their cat to the vet to be neutered

More Information

Cats Protection's Community neutering Officer Emma is currently seeking volunteers to assist her in working with the Community in her target area in North Belfast to raise awareness of the importance of neutering cats and good cat welfare.

As a community cat champion you would be helping Emma with the vital admin such as promotional posters and leaflet drops to support the neutering campaign of owned and feral cats in North Belfast, gain knowledge of the cats in the area and assist with engaging with the local communities, liaising with other organisations in the local area and transport of residents' cats to/from the vet for neutering and help communicate important educational messages around good cat welfare in line with Cats Protection's practices.
