Mark Humphries is the Founder and Co-Director of ‘The Urban Community Chef’ which is a registered Community Interest Company. He is a Food Education & Nutrition Tutor and Community Chef, educated at the Ulster University of Business in Belfast. He is currently pursuing his Nutritional Therapist Diploma linking food literacy with integrative nutrition for emotional health and wellbeing. He has previously worked with disengaged young people on a range of Department of Employment & Learning funded programmes, he has also created OCN courses for the delivery to schools around Belfast. We have worked in partnership with a range of Voluntary Agencies such as The Mornington Centre, South Belfast Round Table, Willowbank Ltd, YMCA, Fareshare and the Belfast & Southern Health Trusts, South Antrim CommunityNetwork, CRAICNI, Belfast Food Network, Shaftsbury etc.. Sustainable consumption and healthy food preparation is at the centre of Marks life, personally and professionally. He is especially passionate about bringing employment opportunities to underserved communities through food-based entrepreneurship. He has previously led the Global Kitchen initiative in South Belfast, bringing together participants from around the Globe living in the wider Belfast area. Mark is passionate about the food justice movement to empower consumers to become creators.
