All children and young people have a right to grow up in a safe, secure and caring family where they are nurtured and developed. We recruit and support foster carers and adopters across the five HSC Trusts in Northern Ireland. We are committed to providing learning and development opportunities for all our foster carers and adopters.

The Regional Fostering Recruitment and Training Coordination Service was established in 2007 to assist each Health and Social Care (HSC) Trust with the recruitment of foster carers and to ensure that existing carers were well trained to undertake the fostering role.

The Service has since expanded to become the Regional Adoption and Fostering Service. We continue to work closely with the five HSC Trusts to recruit, support and provide learning and development opportunities for both foster carers and adoptive families.

The Regional team also works alongside colleagues in the independent sector e.g. The Fostering Network, VOYPIC and Adoption UK as well as the Health and Social Care Board to ensure that we continue to provide a high quality, joined up HSC Adoption and Fostering Service in Northern Ireland.
