About North Belfast Community Transport

North Belfast Community Transport hopes to provide solutions for those individuals who experience transport difficulties due to social or health problems or isolation within the North Belfast area. People in city areas may often be disadvantaged when attempting to access employment, training and opportunities for social interaction.

North Belfast Community Transport is an organisation that has been formed to address the problems of reduced mobility and social exclusion in the North Belfast area.

The Scheme seeks to address the following transport problems which are typical in the North Belfast area:

  • Difficulty in accessing transport to employment
  • Irregular transport services off main routes, particularly early morning and evenings meaning access to employment in and around North Belfast is limited
  • Poor transport services at weekends
  • Transport difficulties for community groups attending meetings and events etc
  • Inadequate transport services for the disabled and the elderly
  • Existing transport is expensive making it difficult for community groups and organisations to use it

Who can use our minibuses

Only community groups or associations who are NBCT members are eligible to hire vehicles. Each bus can be provided with an NBCT driver or on a self-drive basis. Please note: if hiring on a self-drive basis your volunteer driver will have to undergo MiDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Certificate training) in order to meet with insurance and organisation hire policy.
