Positive Steps Community Centre is managed by Cookstown & District Women's Group and is a disabled neutral venue with an user friendly approach to training.

We work with the most disadvantaged people in the Cookstown District Council area, an area that ranks high in most categories of disadvantage. We work with individuals in the following categories: Single mothers; Offenders; Long-term unemployed; Individuals with drugs and alcohol issues; Individuals with mental health problems; Individuals living in isolated rural areas; Members of immigrant communities. We offer second chance learning by providing: Basic Skills Maths and English; Basic ICT; Clait and ECDL; Peace and Reconciliation; Creative Painting; Jewellery making. We provide crèche facilities to those attending our courses. Counselling and advice and guidance are also provided to participants. We also provide courses in partnership with the Probation Service Northern Ireland and the South West College. We have been providing basic skills courses, accredited ICT courses and recreational courses since 1997. The centre works in partnership with other smaller rural community groups delivering an older peoples programme funded by the BIg Lottery.  We have an on-site creche facility that can used for participants attending courses or a drop in facility.
