Hello, my name is Ciaran Milligan and I provide Drama workshops for young people and adults throughout the community and statutory sector.
Having completed a BA Honours Degree in Theatre Studies in 2003, gained an Advanced GNVQ in Theatre Performance, I have since performed in and created performances in theatres, schools and community venues all over the UK and Ireland.
I been lucky enough to perform at the National Theatre London, the Edinburgh Festival, the National Review of Live Art-Glasgow, The N.O.W Festival-Nottingham and also performed in a mutli-award winning show at the National Student Drama Festival where I was an award winner consecutively over 4 years. The Lyric Theatre has also been a regular venue for performances I have been part of.
Following my years in university I went on to work in secondary schools with young people aged 11-18 years supporting them in putting together issue based performances. I was also very fortunate in working within special needs orphanages throughout Romania using drama as a tool for communication.
Drama and performance can have immediate effect on audience members and is a great tool in creating awareness around specific areas. In 2004 I along with 4 other professional actors was commissioned by Cancer Lifeline NI to develop a drama-based performance promoting awareness of early detection of Cancer. This performance travelled throughout N.Ireland and although focused on a very difficult subject, it had to capture and engage audiences of all age groups.
I believe in the power of drama and performing arts as an outlet to develop many life and social skills, enhance creativity, increase confidence and develop an awareness of many issues.
I am a young (i feel it!!), dynamic and personable individual with alot of talent for working with people and supporting their development.
I am available for Drama Workshops within the community and voluntary sector with the option of working towards a Drama based Performance.
