Altnaveigh House was formed in July 1996, as a voluntary community development body. It was established as a single identity organisation initially drawing its membership from the minority Protestant community living in the greater Newry and Mourne District Council area. Altnaveigh is currently working partenership with County Down Rural Community Network on a Rural Development Program supported by DARD.
Altnaveigh is also working in Partnership with County Armagh Community Development on Community Infrastructure Programme funded by DSD.
Altnaveigh House Ltd has acted as an umbrella organisation for community and voluntary PUL Groups within the Southern Region of Northern Ireland. The primary purpose of Altnaveigh House is to build up and maintain strong, dynamic and capable PUL voluntary/community groups as well as unlocking potential of individuals within the wider community.
