Cancer Focus Northern Ireland, the new name for the Ulster Cancer Foundation, is holding a walk on Saturday 1st December in Downpatrick for anyone who has been affected by cancer.
Morag Chambers from Cancer Focus said, “The walk will start from DelamontCountryParkat 10.30am. From January onwards, we’ll be arranging walks on the 1st Saturday of every month in the South Eastern area, so keeping checking our website for more venues – www.cancerfocusni.org”
Cancer Focus walks are free of charge and participants can choose from either a short or long walk on the day, depending on preference. Walks are led by Cancer Focus volunteers who are ready to cater for differing needs.
Liz Atkinson, Head of Care Services, Cancer Focus, said, “Fatigue is one of the most commonly reported symptoms affecting people with cancer, and it has the greatest impact on quality of life. Research shows that those who take part in moderate exercise suffer less from the debilitating affects of fatigue.
“Our walking groups are the ideal way to get out into the outdoors, meet new people and get exercise in a supportive atmosphere. We also encourage participants to bring a friend or family member.”
