Cancer Focus Northern Ireland, the new name for the Ulster Cancer Foundation, is holding a walk on Saturday 15th December in Belfast City Centre at 10.30am, for anyone who has been affected by cancer.

Morag Chambers from Cancer Focus said, “Join us to take in the festive Christmas atmosphere and learn a little more about the history  of Belfast with our guided tour led by one of our experienced volunteers. The walk will start from the Linen Hall Library at 10.30am.

“From January onwards, we’ll be arranging walks on the 3rd Saturday of every month in the Belfast area, so keeping checking our website for more venues – www.cancerfocusni.org

Cancer Focus walks are free of charge and participants can choose from either a short or long walk on the day, depending on preference. Walks are led by Cancer Focus volunteers who are ready to cater for differing needs.

Liz Atkinson, Head of Care Services, Cancer Focus, said, “Fatigue is one of the most commonly reported symptoms affecting people with cancer, and it has the greatest impact on quality of life. Research shows that those who take part in moderate exercise suffer less from the debilitating affects of fatigue.

“Our walking groups are the ideal way to get out into the outdoors, meet new people and get exercise in a supportive atmosphere. We also encourage participants to bring a friend or family member.”
