Vital Signs 2017 – Tenders invited for research as Education and Health & Wellbeing go under the microscope

In Autumn 2016, the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland published its ‘Vital Signs’ report which gave Northern Ireland communities a quality of life check-up across ten key areas.

As this year’s research gets underway, we are delighted to invite tenders for our ‘Vital Issues’ report. This will provide the technical data which we’ll use to inform and help build Vital Signs 2017.

Education, Health & Wellbeing and Poverty were found to be the top concerns of our communities following the Vital Signs survey which asked people to grade the areas they live in regarding issues such as; health and well-being, education, the environment, civic engagement, poverty, community safety, arts & culture, the economy, work and housing.

The report also revealed that Northern Ireland has 13,000 millionaires, whilst 376,000 people live in poverty – including more than 100,000 children.

In the 2017 Vital Signs report, we plan to dig deeper into two of the issues which concerned people most, namely Health & Wellbeing and Education.

Vital Signs has provided us with a fantastic opportunity to find out how communities feel about the issues that affect their everyday lives and has given us a strong evidence base to guide our work enabling us to be more strategic about where funds go.

The findings are also helping us to provide donors and philanthropists with up-to-date information about community need, guiding their giving for maximum impact.

Vital Signs 2017 will look at the vitality of Northern Ireland’s communities using a range of nationally gathered statistics, alongside evidence from local experts, informing the development of effective community philanthropy in our area.
