The Ulster Cancer Foundation’s (UCF) generic cancer support group is holding its next meeting on Tuesday 3rd April at 7pm in the Boardroom in Craigavon Area Hospital.

The generic cancer support group aims to help patients develop a holistic approach to living with cancer and is complementary to any ongoing medical treatment. Mary Hawthorne, Cancer Information Nurse, UCF will facilitate the meeting and Stephanie Reid will give a talk on her role as a Palliative Care Nurse at Craigavon Area Hospital.

Deirdre Conlon, Care Services Manager, UCF said, “The support group is open to anyone no matter what kind of cancer they have, as well as carers, family and friends and we extend a very warm welcome to all new members.  There is no commitment to attend each session and everyone is welcome to come as often and for as long as they wish.

“The support group meetings areinformal and there is no pressure to speak about your experiences; you can just come along and listen to what is being said.   Patients in the past have gained a lot from talking to people who are in, or have been in, a similar situation as this can help to reduce feelings of anxiety, fear and isolation and improve quality of life.”

Light refreshments will be available. For furtherinformation or to confirm your attendance please contactEileen Creeryat UCF on Tel. 028 9068 0742.
