Test Drive the Arts NI Celebrate 20,000 Tickets

Audiences NI flagship audiences development project ‘Test Drive the Arts NI’ celebrates allocating 20,000 tickets, the 20,000th recipient from Greater Belfast was given the chance to see ‘Forget Turkey’ at the Lyric Theatre Belfast in December.

In its first five years, Test Drive the Arts NI has introduced more than 20,000 new customers to 95 arts organisations through 1,532 performances from across Northern Ireland.

Membership, Programmes and Events Manager with Audiences NI Danielle Ross said “It’s really fantastic to have reached this milestone-our 20,000th Test Driver! Test Drive the Arts is an initiative project that encourages people that would normally never engage with the arts a chance to give it a go, and it has opened the doors to theatres, venues and galleries across Northern Ireland. I hope even more people will be inspired to Test Drive the Arts and follow the cultural adventures of our mascots Polo and Annie on our blog, Facebook and twitter.”

Test Drive the Arts NI introduces people to the arts for the first time, or gets people re-engaging with their local venue by offering guest tickets from spare or unsold capacity. An empty seat becomes worthless as soon as a show begins, but Test Drive allows it to become a valuable tool in increasing and developing audiences and ticket revenue in the future.
