Taking Outdoor Play Seriously – New Materials For Primary Schools

PlayBoard has developed new materials for primary schools, highlighting the importance of playing, and playing and learning outdoors as a vital ingredient for a healthy and happy childhood.

Time spent playing outdoors is of vital importance to children, boosting their physical and mental health, building their resilience, developing their self-confidence, and allowing them to let off steam. The outdoor environment can offer a wealth of learning experiences, supporting the curriculum in numerous ways.

The new materials, developed in liaison with the Department of Education’s Children and Young People’s Strategy team, will assist primary schools to get outdoors and support learning through play, and highlight to parents why play and learning outdoors is so important for our children and young people’s health, happiness and educational enrichment.
