Stop for Tea…. Wherever, and show your support for NSPCC Foyle

NSPCC Foyle, in conjunction with the Waterfoot Hotel, is calling on local people to make their teabreak count this Spring, by stopping for tea on Wednesday 29 February in aid of vulnerable local children.

Make this year’s ‘leap’ day count - join friends, family or work colleagues in a cuppa on 29 February while raising money to support NSPCC services in Foyle, and you'll be entered into a draw for an overnight stay for two, courtesy of the Waterfoot Hotel.

Local supporter of the campaign, Come Dine With Me winner Eunan Quigley, said “there is no simpler way to help make a big difference for vulnerable children from the Foyle area than by putting on the kettle. Organise something at home, in work, with your sports or social club – wherever you like, really!”

Money raised by the local community will help support services in the Foyle area, such as ChildLine and the teams providing specialist recovery services to children directly affected by domestic and sexual abuse.

The Stop for Tea campaign aims to get people to organise their own tea break/coffee morning at home or at work by inviting their friends and/or work colleagues to join them for some refreshments and treats whilst at the same time raising money to support the NSPCC’s drive to end cruelty to children in Foyle. All you need to do is pour the tea, coffee – or whatever! -  have fun and raise lots of money to help give children and young people a safer future.

NSPCC Foyle fundraiser, Deidre McLaughlin, said that local support is essential to the continuation of the vital work being done locally:

“There is no question that continuing support is needed to ensure that families in Foyle have access to programmes which are tailored to meet the emotional needs of children affected by abuse. Protecting vulnerable children, and helping them along the road to recovery, is the best reason I know to have a cup of tea.”

Anyone can get involved - just put the kettle on and make 29 February and do your bit to make it an ‘extra’ special day for vulnerable local children. To get involved, contact Deidre on 07791 334 259 or at [email protected].
