Round 2 in the Mournes: Barnes calls on contenders for NSPCC HACK

As Paddy Barnes sets his sights on another Olympic medal, the Belfast boxer says conquering the NSPCC’s Hike Against Cruelty to Kids, in association with SPAR, is a “worthy challenge” for anyone.

Encouraging people of all ages – from 18 to 80 (if you’re fit enough!) - to get in the NSPCC’s corner on 15 September, the local star said that everyone needs a goal to pursue:

“I commit myself completely to preparing for bouts, and there is nothing like the satisfaction I feel when I get in the ring.

“The way I see it, by taking part in the NSPCC’s HACK people have a real opportunity to do something positive and challenging for themselves, while raising money for invaluable work with vulnerable children and young people and their families. It doesn’t get much better than that.”

Samantha Livingstone, PR and Communications Manager from SPAR said: “With less than seven weeks left until the HACK kicks off, there is still plenty of time for training, so I would urge anyone thinking of taking part to sign up today. It is a fantastic event that can be enjoyed with friends or form part of a training goal. Not only will you be able to take in the breathtakingly beautiful landscapes of the Mournes, but it will also raise much needed funds for the NSPCC.”

The HACK is an amazing challenge experience in the great outdoors which offers a valuable opportunity to support NSPCC projects and services inNorthern Ireland. Open to people aged 18 years and over, no pets are permitted on the walk. It is recommended that participants undertake some training beforehand.

The registration fee is £20 for the 20 mile challenge and £10 for 14 mile challenge. For further details and online registrations and payments, please log on to www.nspcc.org.uk/mourneshack or contact the Northern Ireland NSPCC fundraising office on 028 90 351135.
