PEACEPLUS, the new European Union funding Programme, is designed to support peace and prosperity across Northern Ireland and the border counties of Ireland, building upon the work of the previous PEACE and INTERREG Programmes. It is due to be launched in the next few months, and you can read more about it in the newly-updated PEACEPLUS Programme overview here.
The Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) is responsible for managing PEACEPLUS and is working on the content and timing of the funding calls across the six key themes of the Programme. These are:

  • Building Peaceful and Thriving Communities
  • Delivering Economic Regeneration and Transformation
  • Empowering and Investing in Our Young People
  • Healthy and Inclusive Communities
  • Supporting a Sustainable and Better Connected Future
  • Building and Empowering Partnership and Collaboration

Last month, the European Commission formally adopted the €1.1 billion Programme which represents a strong partnership between the EU, the Governments of the United Kingdom and Ireland and the Northern Ireland Executive, all of whom have supported and approved its development. The next step is the finalisation and ratification of the arrangements between the United Kingdom and the European Commission, which is anticipated in the Autumn, and will see the launch of the Programme and funding calls opened.

In preparation for that SEUPB are holding pre-application workshop events to provide more information and assistance to potential applicants and you can find out more about the venues, dates, details and the order in which these are taking place by following us on social media. You can find us on FacebookTwitter and Linkedin.

If you are interested in finding out more about some of the projects that received funding under PEACE IV and INTERREG VA, you can read all about them in Your EU, the quarterly magazine produced by the SEUPB. It includes detailed information on the Programmes and takes a closer look at the inner workings of the SEUPB.
