North Coast insurtech firm bags two prestigious awards at 2021 Causeway Business Awards

MCL InsureTech topped Technology and CSR categories as well as being recognised in the Best Marketing Initiative category
  • MCL InsureTech Limited – Technology Business of the Year, Winner
  • MCL InsureTech Limited – Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility in partnership with Action Cancer, Winner
  • MCL InsureTech Limited – Best Marketing Initiative, Finalist

MCL InsureTech Limited, the online IT solutions provider for the insurance world, and parent company of its own insurance brands; Its4women, McClartys Insurance, BoxyMo and more recently the digital-only brand GetSetGo, has won two top awards at the bi-annual Causeway Coast and Glens Business Awards.

The company took the Technology Business of the Year title for its subsidiary entity DotSys Limited which is a digital software development company. DotSys offers a wide range of cloud-based flexible and scalable solutions to help insurance companies, MGAs (managing general agents) and brokerages digitalise and automate their processes.

DotSys was instrumental in creating MCL InsureTech’s digital-only insurance brand GetSetGo in the midst of the pandemic thanks to its modular cloud-based software system that can operate across multiple counties and currencies whilst offering the customer complete autonomy.

Judges credited the DotSys team for demonstrating “real innovation in their use of technology to enhance their business practices and engagement with their customers”.

They added: “They have used technology to improve their customer experience and resolve customer queries quickly and efficiently.  Furthermore, their digital strategy has been central to their ongoing success.”

Managing Director of MCL InsureTech, Gary McClarty, said: “We are delighted to be recognised in not one, but three categories at the 2021 Causeway Business Awards.

“Winning the Technology category is testament to the hard work our team of developers have put in around the clock over the past 18 months when the global pandemic hit. Their sterling efforts enabled the company to continue to deliver excellent customer service. It is their innovation and passion for technology that has enabled MCL InsureTech’s digital insurance offering to succeed.”

MCL InsureTech was also recognised for its CSR efforts, winning the Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility category, for its work in partnership with Action Cancer.

Judges at the event, which is hosted by the Causeway Chamber, and took place at the Lodge Hotel in Coleraine, said: “The winner of this category really impressed the judges with their passion and the significant importance on Corporate Social Responsibility which strives to develop and deliver strategies and initiatives which aim to make a positive difference in the community.”

Mr McClarty continued: “Our team is at the heart of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) work. It is a key part of our strategy and we like to support local charities that resonate with our staff and the people living in Northern Ireland."

Since 2019, Action Cancer and MCL InsureTech’s Its4women brand have worked in collaboration to create a hard-hitting campaign with the ultimate goal of raising much needed funds from the general public.

This includes the ‘Breast Friends’ campaign which has successfully raised over £99,000 and enabled Action Cancer to screen 1000 women across NI and as a result detect breast cancer in six or seven local women.

Mr McClarty added: We are delighted to have been able to make such a positive impact with our partnership with Action Cancer and to win this category is an honour.”

The Causeway Business Awards are in their 9th year and recognise the best in business across the region as well as highlighting the positive contribution that businesses make to the economy and to society.

In a year that has seen MCL InsureTech celebrate over a decade of trading, the business was also delighted to be named finalist in the Best Marketing Initiative category.

The company operates throughout the island of Ireland, with its brands appealing to its 90,000 customer-base that demands premiums that fully reflect the lifestyle they live, while offering a transparent and convenient service that is forward-thinking and resonates with the advancing technological world we live in.

In the past year, the company sped up its digital offering by launching GetSetGo - an online only insurance brand - replacing the business’ former 25Plus brand, which was previously ROI-centric.

GetSetGo is an insurance brand that offers consumers the simplicity and convenience of managing an insurance policy at their fingertips, at a time that suits their lifestyle. The launch represents a swift response to the needs of an audience that has become more digitally minded than ever before.

To ensure its success, the company invested £3m in technology and marketing of the new brand. With the mantra “Let’s Go” and the tagline “Quick Start Car Insurance, Ready When You Are”, GetSetGo is set to disrupt the market and pave the way for insurance premiums of the future.

Mr McClarty said over the past decade the business has “successfully transformed a small family brokerage into one of the leading online insurance providers in Ireland”.

He added: “It’s a real privilege to win the Technology and CSR categories and to be recognised as a finalist in the Best Marketing Initiative award category.”
