New Councils for Northern Ireland

This is the biggest change in local government in more than 40 years and the new councils will have additional powers and responsibilities including;

• local planning functions
• off-street parking
• local economic development
• community development (from April 2016)
• urban regeneration (from April 2016)

To further raise awareness of the changes, an advertising campaign; ‘New councils for Northern Ireland; it just makes sense’, is underway. Look out for ads on TV, in the press, online and outdoors over the coming months.
