The Web Theatre,North Street, Newtownards raised an amazing £626 for the Ulster Cancer Foundation (UCF) after staging the comedy ‘My Wife’s Family’.

‘My Wife’s Family’ by Fred Duprez was performed by Banteer Drama Group on Friday and Saturday, 2nd and 3rd March. This is the second year the Web Theatre and Banteer Drama Group have staged a performance and have raised a staggering £1,866 in total for UCF.

Candice Foster, Artistic Director and Co-owner of the Web Theatre, said: “We were delighted to present ‘My Wife’s Family’ at our theatre – not only was it a great night’s entertainment but it also raised much needed funds for the Ulster Cancer Foundation.

“We are indebted to the Banteer Drama Group, an amateur company from Co Cork, who waived their fee for the performance and to all those who supported the show and the Ulster Cancer Foundation by attending.”

Pauline Wylie, PR & Events Manager, Ulster Cancer Foundation said, “This is a fantastic amount to raise and I want to thank the Web Theatre and Banteer Drama Group for their commitment and support of the Ulster Cancer Foundation (UCF).

“UCF is a local charity committed to tackling cancer by supporting cancer research, providing services for cancer patients and their families and by educating people on how they can reduce their risk of the disease. All our services are provided free of charge and help hundreds of local people during their journey with cancer every year.

“We rely almost entirely on voluntary donations in order to carry out our work and every year we need to raise almost £4m. All funds raised for UCF are spent locally to help support people with cancer inNorthern Ireland.  The support from the Web Theatre and Banteer Drama Group is very greatly appreciated.”
