Level 2 Award in Independent Advocacy

This Award is an introductory qualification for candidates who are interested in acquiring knowledge about the role of an Independent Advocate. It comprises the unit ‘Understanding the Purpose and Role of the Independent Advocate’. This is a knowledge based unit. What the Course covers: The qualification has 4 learning outcomes: Understand the principles of Independent Advocacy. Understand the role of the Independent Advocate. Understand communication methods used in Independent Advocacy. Understand equality, diversity and inclusion.Who Should Attend: This course is aimed at a range of learners including those who are new to advocacy and seeking an introductory qualification; volunteers and peer advocates; other professionals interested in Independent Advocacy.Fees: The fees for the course are as follows: Advice NI Members - Non-Accredited Course Only- £115, Accredited Qualification -£165 Voluntary and Community Sector - Non-Accredited Course Only - £145, Accredited Qualification -£195 Public and Statutory Sector - Non-Accredited Course Only -£185, Accredited Qualification £225CPD Hours: There are 12 CPD hours available for this course.Education/Professional Framework: The educational framework of this award including its status on the QCF is explained in the section ‘Accreditation’. The course links to a range of National Occupational Standards including: HSC367 – Support Individuals to Access independent Representation & Advocacy IB4/IB5 - First Line Discrimination Legal Advice/Casework IB21/IB22 – First Line Health and Community Care Legal Advice/Casework. IB7/IB8 – First Line Mental Health Legal Advice/Casework. LA1 – Establish Communication with ClientsAccreditation: The Level 2 Award is accredited by City and Guilds. Successful completion of this course and the required assignment are worth 4 Credits at Level 2 on the Qualifications and Credit Framework. It enables candidates to progress to the Level 3 Certificate and/or the Level 3 Diploma in Independent Advocacy. There are no entry requirements for the Award.
