Know your rights following further Flybe cancellations

The Consumer Council is advising Flybe customers on their passenger rights, following the announcement of further cancellations of flights in and out of George Best Belfast City Airport on Friday 5 April 2019.

Richard Williams, Head of Policy (Transport) at The Consumer Council, said, "If your flight on Friday has been cancelled you must contact Flybe immediately.  They have to offer you a choice between a refund and an alternative flight, even with a different airline.

Richard added, “These cancellations by Flybe have caused a huge inconvenience for passengers travelling to and from George Best Belfast City Airport. Since Flybe’s cancellations on Wednesday, The Consumer Council has gained confirmation from the Civil Aviation Authority that passengers effected by Flybe’s cancellations are entitled to compensation under EU Regulation 261/2004. Passengers that have been affected will need to contact Flybe directly (www.flybe.com or 0371 700 2000) to claim compensation. If passengers are unhappy with the response that they receive from Flybe, they should contact The Consumer Council on 0800 121 6022, and as the statutory passenger complaints body in Northern Ireland we will then take on the complaint on their behalf.”

If you have been affected by the disruption and want to know more about your passenger rights you can contact The Consumer Council on 0800 121 6022, or download our ‘Plane Facts guide from www.consumercouncil.org.uk. You can also request a copy by emailing [email protected].
