Development Trusts NI Launch Membership Recruitment Drive

DTNI today officially launches a membership recruitment drive. DTNI like its sister organisation in Scotland, England & Wales will be a member led organisation and will involve members in designing and developing the network they need.

DTNI Announce Membership Recruitment Drive

Development Trust NI officially launches its membership recruitment drive and associated development of the membership network. Nigel Kinnaird (Chair DTNI) said:

'We are at an exciting point in the ongoing development of DTNI in Northern Ireland (NI). This year has seen the organisation raise the agenda on community asset transfer (CAT) to a new level and we have been advocating and lobbying hard on behalf of the wider community and voluntary sector (CVS) to shape the forthcoming CAT enabling framework. We are now  developing our membership base, to provide the support are members want and to strengthen our collective voice to deliver the change we want to see within our communities and in NI.'

DTNI are also, at present, seeking expressions of interest from organisations wishing to be considered as part of a pilot demonstration framework to test that framework.

Our membership recruitment drive comes at a time when interest in the model of social development and economic renewal promoted by the Development Trust movement is gaining currency in NI. The CVS is changing, it is adapting to a changing financial environment and responding to public sector reform and placing itself within that changing infrastructure. The CVS is also adopting new ways of working, it is striving for greater autonomy and reliance on grant funding. It is seeking and designing communitying enterprise responses to meet the needs of local communities and building resiliant and sustainable organisations in the process.

Board Director Lauri McCusker notes that; '

DTNI is at the forefront of this work. We want to develop a network of like minded individuals, organisations and associates that share our principles of association. We want  enterprising organisations, we want to support the development of an independent asset owning class of CVS organisations. Being part of the DTNI network is an opportunity to deliver change.'

The membership recruitment process will include formal recruitment of members and there are three categories to chose from: Full Membership: Associate Membership and Supporter. Alongside of this and continuing for the next 18 months will be a strategy of engagement with those that want to become members and with new members. This will be to better understand the network you want and to begin to develop and deliver the supports you need.

DTNI welcome your interest and to receiving your application and to working with you in the coming years and months.

Please note: The application is an electronic online form. If you require a hard copy please contact Seaneen McLoughlin on 028 9031 1132 ([email protected])
