Derry/L'Derry training courses from Housing Rights in May/June
Local charity Housing Rights is offering a number of courses at the Holywell Trust in Derry/L'Derry in May and June. In addition to their popular Housing Advice Training Programme there will also be a session on sustaining tenancies.
26 May-Sustaining tenancies-This one day course looks at practical solutions to key issues that can impact peoples’ ability to stay in their homes. It will cover key areas like:
- Paying for the home and managing arrears
- How to deal with Anti social behaviour
- Issues around abandonment
- Tackling disrepair
- Making homes suitable if circumstances change

1 June-Housing Advice Training Programme-This is the must have foundational course for those working in housing. It is held over 4 weeks and provides participants with a qualification in housing advice. Across the four weeks participants will look at:
- Understanding housing options available for clients
- Accessing various types of accommodation
- Using homelessness legislation
- Selection scheme
- Private rented accommodation
- Sustaining accommodation and affordability
