The Consumer Council has been shortlisted as a finalist in the UK Complaints Handling Awards 2020, which recognise and reward outstanding achievement in complaint handling across the UK.

The Consumer Council, who promote and safeguard the interests of consumers in Northern Ireland, is a finalist in the ‘Best Customer Service’ and ‘Resolver Vulnerable Situations’ categories. Other organisations in the categories include Aldi, EE, The Co-Op and Barclays.

John French, Chief Executive of the Consumer Council said, "We are delighted to have been shortlisted as a finalist in the UK Complaint Handling Awards 2020 and see our work being recognised at a national level.

“During 2018/19 our complaints handling role dealt with over 3,700 consumers and returned over £212,000 back to consumers in Northern Ireland. We received silver and bronze awards at the ceremony in 2019 and we look forward to the 2020 awards in March to present our achievements to the judges and hopefully win the gold."

John concluded, "We help consumers in Northern Ireland in regards to energy, transport, postal services, water and private parking issues. Consumers who would like our support should contact us on 0800 121 6022 or via our website www.consumercouncil.org.uk.”
