The Consumer Council advises Thomas Cook passengers to claim refunds

The Consumer Council is advising ATOL protected Thomas Cook customers to claim their refund as soon as possible.

Richard Williams, Head of Transport Policy at The Consumer Council, said: “If you had an ATOL protected booking with Thomas Cook, you may be entitled to make a claim for a refund via the Civil Aviation Authority’s website at https://thomascook.caa.co.uk/refunds. This could be for a full refund for your forward booking or for costs you incurred completing your holiday if you travelled from the UK after 23 September.”

Richard added “Ensure you submit all required information when making your claim so that your claim is processed as quickly as possible. Once the Civil Aviation Authority has all the information, they aim to pay back valid refunds within 60 days.

“If you were a Thomas Cook customer, you will need to make a claim for a refund yourself. Only use the official Civil Aviation Authority website and do not give out personal or financial details to anyone who cold calls you claiming to be from the Civil Aviation Authority, your bank or Thomas Cook. For further information and to complete your claim visit https://thomascook.caa.co.uk/refunds. If you are unable to use the claim form, contact the Civil Aviation Authority’s dedicated Thomas Cook centre on 0300 303 2800.
