The Consumer Council advice for Flybe customers following cancellations

The Consumer Council is advising Flybe customers on their passenger rights, following the cancellation of flights in and out of George Best Belfast City Airport on Wednesday 3 April 2019.

Richard Williams, Head of Policy (Transport) at The Consumer Council, said; “Late cancellations of flights cause huge inconvenience for passengers, particularly those travelling to or from Northern Ireland who have limited alternative options.

“If your flight has been cancelled, the airline must offer you a choice between a refund and an alternative flight. You may entitled to assistance such as meals, refreshments, telephone calls, emails or overnight accommodation while you wait.

“Given the Flybe statement regarding the causes behind the cancellations, passengers should also be entitled to compensation under EU Regulations. We are talking with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to ensure that passengers are fully informed of all their rights in this matter.

“For the most up to date information on cancellations, Flybe customers should visit www.flybe.com or call 0371 700 2000. If you have been affected by the disruption and want to know more about your passenger rights you can contact The Consumer Council on 0800 121 6022, or download our ‘Plane Facts’ guide from www.consumercouncil.org.uk. You can also request a copy by emailing [email protected].”
