Colin Summer Festival Promises a Bumper Programme of Events

The Colin Summer Festival promises to be even bigger and better this year with a host of fun-filled activities for all the family in the Colin area of West Belfast.

The festival, organised by Colin Neighbourhood Partnership and funded by the Urban Villages Initiative, will feature a range of events for all the family to get involved in. The festival runs from Friday 2nd until Saturday 10th August.

Highlights include the annual Colin Summer Festival Parade and Family Fun Day on Thursday 8th August. This annual carnival parade will make its way up from St Luke’s Church in Twinbrook, along the Stewartstown Road, to the new Colin Town square for a free Family Fun Day. Here there will be carnival rides, face painters, live music, arts and crafts, talent competitions, bouncy castles and much more. This free event is guaranteed to keep the kids entertained for hours!

Another highlight of the community festival is a Food and Craft Market which will be held in the Colin Town Square on Tuesday 6th August from 11am to 3pm. There will be lots of different vendors who specialise in a variety of delicious fresh produce and beautiful artisan gifts. The event will also feature entertainment for all the family.

The Colin Summer Festival programme also includes a Family Treasure Hunt in Colin Glen Forest Park on Friday 9th August, BBQ masterclasses at Colin Allotments and a family camp-out on Friday 2nd August and for the very first time a Movie Night in Colin Town Square on 10th August where they will be showing The Greatest Showman and eighties movie classic The Goonies.

John Paul Russell of Colin Neighbourhood Partnership is looking forward to the events: “The Colin Summer Festival is one of the highlights in the Colin community calendar. This year we have provided a bumper programme of events for all the family.
