Child and Adolescent Eating Disorder and Mental Health Clinic Launch.

We are delighted to be sharing news about the launch of our Child and Adolescent Eating Disorder and Mental Health Clinic.

Watching a child, family member or friend struggling with weight issues, eating disorders or other mental health issues can be very stressful and distressing, especially if they refuse to admit there is a problem or refuse help and treatment for the problem.

Life Therapies Clinic Child and Adolescent practitioners have specialist experience and training in counselling young people which enables effective engagement with this age group.

YOU are likely to be worried, frustrated, sometimes angry and often in a great deal of conflict. Love alone will not help.

How Can We Help?

Adolescence is a key formative stage of development and the impact of distressing or difficult situations can be experienced even more acutely by young people than adults. Consequently, they can find it difficult to reach their potential, such as finding it difficult to cope in school or relationships with other people or themselves.

Young people today are faced with many pressures and problems as they continue to develop coping skills for the adult world, including intense pressures relating to weight and body image.

Counselling offers a safe, secure place, separate from everyday life, where the client can talk about any difficulties in their life. This includes listening in a non-judgemental way, being empathic and helping the young person to feel valued and understood.

Counsellors within Life Therapies Clinic also have specialist training in working with eating disorders, which enables them to effectively work around issues of weight, food and body image. The primary purpose of therapy is to facilitate positive change and recovery from emotional, habitual and chaotic eating patterns, and most importantly to restore a healthy attitude to, and relationship with food.

Research shows clearly that recovery is faster and better when there is earlier intervention, particularly with eating disorders, and with waiting lists ever increasing at public services we can offer an alternative and highly professional service: http://life-therapies.com/clinics/child-and-adolescent-mental-health/
