Belfast based graphic design firm, Paperjam Design, celebrate their tenth anniversary this month.

Founded by Paul Malone in 2003, the highly creative team of designers have been working hard developing exceptional branding and design for all kinds of clients, in many sectors - from Hoteliers to Bishops.

Over the last ten years Paperjam have created exceptional branding, marketing and design for clients including The 5* Merchant Hotel (winner of the Best UK Hotelier), The 5* K Club (Ireland’s AA Hotel of the Year) and more recently The Bishop of London, Sommerville and Oxford University and The Diocese of London.

Paperjam have a decade of experience successfully creating award winning branding, positioning and creative marketing and have been instrumental in the success of many companies. By producing such high quality branding and design Paperjam have begun to attract more and more national and international clients from their Belfast base.

Having always been based in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter the company have seen their surrounding area change considerably. Once an unused and neglected area of Belfast City Centre the Cathedral Quarter has grown up to become the creative hub for the city and Paperjam are proud to be one of the creative organisations based in this now thriving area.

Paul Malone, director of Paperjam said;

“I’m very proud to have achieved this ten year mile stone in business. When I established the company back in 2003 I saw great potential in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter and am very proud to have been in business here for over a decade.

Over the years I’ve seen both Belfast as a city and the Cathedral Quarter change and develop and I’m immensely proud to have been part of this era of change.

I’ve not only seen changes in the city but have also seen a lot of change in the graphic design industry in Northern Ireland as a whole.

Northern Ireland has a wealth of creative talent and there are agencies like ours whose creative edge and quality of design stands shoulder to shoulder with the larger agencies of London and New York.

We have experienced our export and client base grow with more and more national and international clients seeking to work with us – which is inspiring as an agency based in Northern Ireland.

I’m very proud of what we have achieved in the last ten years from designing the world’s best cocktail menu to being published in ‘Logology’ to our most recent accolades in Packaging of the World and Creative Review.

To date one of our most exciting projects has been working with the Diocese of London to help launch their Capital Vision 2020 in St Pauls Cathedral.”

In early 2013 Paperjam were contacted by the Diocese to help launch their Capital Vision 2020. Capital Vision 2020 is the Diocese of London's vision for the next seven years, it comprises three major themes, with 10 specific areas in which the Diocese plan to be more purposeful and imaginative.

The formulation of the Capital Vision 2020 began in 2012 with a consultation with over 1500 people who were involved in discussions, conversations, tweets and emails.

Three major themes emerged as the Capital Vision 2020 – ‘Confident, Compassionate & Creative’. Paperjam created separate artwork for each theme with interlinking styles and complimentary colours, while ensuring there was coherent branding across all marketing materials.

Paperjam wanted to distinguish each theme in the Capital Vision 2020 with a representative image and graphic style. The colours chosen referenced the visible spectrum of light, which in turn subtly referenced that this is a ‘vision’, a way of looking forward to 2020.

The vision was successfully launched by The Bishop of London on 6 June 2013 at St Paul's Cathedral in front of 2,000 dignitaries, ministers and churchwardens from across the Diocese.

Paul finished by adding;

“I believe the quality of Paperjam’s design has been reflected in the high calibre of clients we have worked with over the years and I’m looking forward even more exciting new projects with more new clients in the coming future.”
