A BBC Radio Ulster Appeal on behalf of Leukaemia and Lymphoma NI

Leukaemia & Lymphoma is the only organisation in Northern Ireland that is dedicated to blood cancer research.

Despite recent advances in medical research, the outcome for many blood cancer patients remains poor. It remains the fifth most common cancer in the UK by diagnosis and the third biggest killer.

On average, three people in Northern Ireland are diagnosed with blood cancer every day. The disease can strike at any age, but its effects on more vulnerable patients, like children and the elderly, are sometime more severe because of the impact that treatments can have on their bodies.

September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month. Any donation, however small, can make a big difference to the lifesaving research that is happening in Northern Ireland.
