A BBC Radio Ulster Appeal on behalf of Fibromyalgia Awareness Northern Ireland

Fibromyalgia Awareness Northern Ireland offers support to fibromyalgia sufferers, their families and carers.

Fibromyalgia can cause constant debilitating pain, chronic fatigue or other symptoms such as skin sensitivity, memory loss, and depression. There is no simple medical test for this condition. This means that diagnosis can take several years to complete.  Fibromyalgia can often be misunderstood and its effects can be different for different people.

Fibromyalgia Awareness started off as an online support group and the charity has now expanded its services and premises. There is a drop-in centre where members can access support and advice, and the charity also runs regular social events – helping people to overcome the feelings of isolation and loneliness that can result from a fibromyalgia diagnosis.
