Ark Housing Celebrates Culture, Diversity & Good Relations

Ark Housing Celebrates Culture, Diversity & Good Relations at its annual Neighbours Day

Ark Housing held its annual Neighbours Day at its family homeless centre in South Belfast. Roseville House hosts many families around the world and this event provides an opportunity for residents, neighbours, staff and friends to celebrate the rich diversity of cultures and backgrounds within the local community.

Residents from the Centre prepared their traditional dishes to share with guests and took time to reflect upon the life experiences that had brought them to Belfast.

There was a full programme of events to keep the children entertained with games, art and musical workshops while Belfast City Council facilitated a recycling awareness session.

Many of our partner organisations were also able to attend and special thanks are extended to the PSNI, Barnardos, the Housing Executive and the Northern Ireland Federation of Housing Associations for their participation.

Commenting on the event, Katherine McCloskey, NIFHA Policy & Communications Officer stated, ‘This a fantastic occasion in bringing families, friends and cultures together. Neighbours Day is testament to the great work that housing associations, and Ark Housing Association in particular, have continued to do in building and maintaining successful, vibrant communities- long may it continue.’

Acting Scheme Manager, Sharon Gallagher agreed ‘Neighbours Day is a firm fixture in the Ark Housing calendar. It is a celebration of shared communities and shared experiences and it is an opportunity to highlight the work so many agencies carry out in support of our families.
