Agnew Group Drive Home A £100,000 Gift For Children With Cancer

Motor retailer the Agnew Group is delighted to hand over an amazing £100,000 gift for local children with cancer, just in time for Christmas.

Having chosen Cancer Fund for Children as its charity partner earlier this year, more than 1,000 staff at all of its 16 dealerships committed to fundraising for the charity, with an ambitious target of reaching £100,000 by the end of the year, half to be raised by employees and the remaining to be matched by the firm.

Agnew Group moved their fundraising in to top gear earlier this year, when they exceeded their original target, three months ahead of schedule.

Employees at the firm raised the money through a range of fundraising events and activities, from taking part in the charity’s Bog Run, Slieve Donard and All Wrapped Up campaigns, to organising their own coffee mornings, BBQ events, raffles and customer competitions, as well as donating through payroll giving.

Funds raised will enable Cancer Fund for Children to provide children aged 0-24 affected by cancer, and their families, with a range of practical, emotional and financial support, as well as free therapeutic short breaks, to help them cope with the impact cancer has on their lives.

Yuile Magee, Managing Director, Agnew Group said:

“We are absolutely delighted to reach the £100k fundraising target for Cancer Fund for Children in our first year with the charity. All our staff across the dealerships have embraced the fundraising activities with great enthusiasm and we are very proud of them and their efforts. Such has been the success of the partnership that we are continuing this partnership and look forward to raising much needed funds for the charity in 2018.”

Chief Executive Gillian Creevy, Cancer Fund for Children added:

“I would like to thank Agnew Group, their staff and customers for their incredible generosity and support over the year.

“At Cancer Fund for Children we understand the devastating impact a cancer diagnosis can have on children, young people and families and we rely so much on the support of local communities and businesses to ensure that beyond essential clinical care, family life can be supported and rebuilt.

“We simply could not help families if it wasn’t for the energy, enthusiasm and commitment of charity partners like Agnew Group. It’s absolutely fantastic that they have decided to extend their partnership with us in to 2018, and are committed to our culture and values around providing top quality support to children living with cancer – and their families.”
