The Welcoming Programme is a newly commissioned service in March 2019 and is funded until December 2019. The project is supported by the European Union’s PEACE IV Programme and managed by the Special EU Programmes Body and The LCCC Peace IV Partnership. YMCA Lisburn is the appointed Lead partner for a consortium of agencies who are collaborating to deliver The Welcoming Programme.
As a partner organisation YALLA wish to recruit volunteers who will support the Project Worker and Yallaa staff/volunteers to deliver on The Welcoming Programme.
The volunteer role will involve providing a culturally sensitive service to people from minority ethnic backgrounds and contribute to the development and delivery of programmes to support the inclusion and integration of the Syrian community in Lisburn including:
Saturday Morning Homework Club for children (ages 5-18) wide range or activities for Syrian children and young people to support education and integration by practising both English and Arabic language, visual arts and music
Saturday Morning Friendship club: an opportunity for adults to engage socially, enjoy Arabic coffee and cakes in a safe environment to practice English, play games and craft activities.
Ladies Social: Every Friday (morning and evening depending on event) range of weekly activities such as swimming, arts/ crafts, cooking, ladies’ nights out.
We are looking volunteers who could give anything from 2 hours a week Friday (tbc) and Saturday (9.45am to 11.45am) for the period April to December 2019
This is a great opportunity to meet new people and build friendships.
If this is something you might be interested in complete and return the volunteer application form to info@yallaa.org
