Volunteer Furniture Collection Assistant

We're looking for volunteers to assist our driver in the collection of donated furniture items!

Our Oxfam Home shop specialises in selling second hand furniture, and other household items, supported by enthusiastic teams of volunteers.

We are currently recruiting for volunteers to assist our driver in the collection of donated furniture items.

*Heavy lifting is a requirement of this role*

*This role does not require a driving licence*

Van shifts are on Mondays, Wednesdays and alternating Fridays/Saturdays between 10-5pm. We are looking for a minimum commitment on these days of either 9.45am-1pm or 2pm-5pm

Skills and Experience Required:

• Ability to undertake physical labour

• Ability to take direction and follow instructions

  Other Experience in this area is not essential as full training will be provided

   

We will provide full training and induction including:

• Overview of Oxfam Ireland

• Team meet & greet

• Manual Handling

• Health and Safety

• Stock processing

• Oxfam policies and procedures

We'll also provide you with PPE including steel-toe shoes and gloves

Expenses:

We will reimburse you for local travel costs from your home to and from the shop

Lunch expenses can be claimed when you volunteer for more than 5 hours in a day

Tasks and responsibilities

• Assist the van driver with collection of furniture donations
• Careful and respectful handling of all items
• Ensure that great care is taken over carrying furniture out of people's homes
• Involves a large amount of heavy lifting in picking up and moving furniture
