We run clubs for children and young people diagnosed with Autism or other additional needs, and their families. Part of our programmes involve taking the children or young people on trips and leisure activities, to improve their social skills and provide them with a fun, suppportive setting where they can be themselves. We also provide school pick ups . We are currently building a bank of volunteer drivers for our afterschool. Hours include the following:
(Daytimes)
Monday 1:15pm-2:15pm
Wednesday 1:15pm-2:15pm
Friday 2:15pm-3:30pm
Summer scheme : July and August anytime between 10.30am and 2.30pm pickups and dropoffs within Belfast.
Drivers may choose to do 1 or more of the above days, as and when they are available. Pickups will usually be from our premises at 284a Ormeau Road, Belfast BT7 2GB or locations in South Belfast, and dropoffs may be anywhere within Belfast city, depending on the trip.
Note: No childcare is involved in this role. A member of Sólás staff will be onboard at all times. Drivers will not be expected to do any duties outside of driving, opening the doors, etc.
Drivers will be covered under our charity's insurance.
Drivers must meet the following requirements as set out by our Insurance company:
aged over 25;
2 years minimum experience driving; and
In possession of category B driver’s licence .

Drivers will be covered under our charity's insurance provided they meet the requirements as set out by the insurance company (aged over 25, 2 years experience of driving , in possession of clean driving Licence).
