Shifts can be during the day, evenings, weekends, bank holidays, throughout the night or on call


 

Our Short Break Service based in North Belfast offers people with a learning disability the opportunity to spend time away from their families, gaining greater independence while allowing their loved ones a break from their caring responsibilities. Our new purpose–built facility supports up to 5 people at any one time.

Shortlisting Criteria

Essential:

1. At least two years’ experience of supporting people with Autism within a health and social care (HSC) setting, including knowledge of the principles of a short break service

2. Experience of 

  1. supervising staff including ability to coach and mentor team members
  2. working as part of a team
  3. assessment, development and implementation of Person Centered Care / Support Plans
  4. using Behavioural Management Strategies
  5. assessing / managing risk

3. Flexibility, including working unsociable hours, sleepovers and waking night shifts

4. Ability to travel independently (hold a full and valid UK Drivers Licence** with access to a vehicle) to be able to carry out the responsibilities of the role

 

Desirable: 

  1. Experience of working with families and external HSC Trust colleagues 
  2. NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care
  3. Experience of working with people with complex and challenging behaviours

 

In line with NISCC Regulations, it is a requirement of the post to be registered with the NISCC.
