Sessional Counsellor for SHIP (Self-Harm Intervention Programme)

From 30 To 40

To work as part of the New Life Counselling SHIP Team, to provide therapeutic intervention to clients aged 11-18 and adults on issues specifically relating to self-harm with the Belfast and/ or South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust areas.

Essential Criteria:

§  Professional qualification in counselling or psychotherapy (minimum Advanced Diploma standard)

§  Professional Registration and accreditation as a practitioner with BACP, IACP, UKCP or equivalent (equivalence to be determined by New Life Counselling)

§  Level 5 qualification in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

§   ASIST training

§   Minimum of 2 years post-qualification supervised clinical practice  (accumulating to at least 300 hours post-qualifying supervised practice)

Desirable Criteria:

§    Mental Health First Aid training

§    Experience of working with self-harm clients in a clinical setting 

§    Experience with administrative systems including the use of relevant ICT packages, specifically CORE

§    Experience in working with statutory and voluntary agencies

§    25 hours personal therapy
