Our staff and volunteers are dedicated to changing lives of people with an intellectual disability through Sport. Special Olympics Ireland has one of the strongest Special Olympic programmes worldwide and we are looking for a motivated individual to join our dedicated team to help build upon our success in the Ulster region.

Summary:

As one of a team of five Coordinators, the Regional Fundraising Coordinator (RFC) will work to achieve the organisation’s revenue targets year on year. This is primarily through the planning and management of the fundraising and income generating initiatives in the Ulster Region. Managing and coordinating existing fundraising initiatives such as Collection Day, Polar Plunge and School Awareness Week will be key in achieving the Regional yearly income target, however the position will also require the RFC to maintain a focus on developing new contacts and ideas via the Business Community.

Working out of the regional office, the successful candidate will report centrally to the Fundraising Manager but work very closely with the relevant Regional Director on a day-to-day operational basis.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years fundraising and/ or 3 years sales experience is preferable.
  • A proven ability to successfully reach targets for organisations preferably in the not-for-profit sector.
  • Excellent organisational and creative skills with ability to work on own initiative but also as part of a small team.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to persuade and negotiate with various groups.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills with ability to build strong relationships across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Established corporate and community working relationships and contacts in the relevant region that may provide avenues of or access to support for Special Olympics.
  • Experience working within CRM systems and databases is desirable.
  • A current full clean driving licence and access to a form of transport that enables them to meet the requirements of the post in full is essential.
  • Available to meet a requirement to work flexible hours including occasional evenings and weekends and to be prepared to travel frequently as part of the role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for implementation of the income generation initiatives and achievement of the income targets within the Ulster region, in conjunction with the Regional Director and Fundraising Manager.
  • Foster and develop regional and local corporate sponsor relationships and agreements, increasing awareness, partnerships, fundraising and income generation opportunities within the business community.
  • Plan and execute the key fundraising events in the programme for the Ulster Region, including Collection Day, Polar Plunge and School Awareness, adhering to timeframe and income/expenditure targets.
  • Provide assistance and guidance to companies who express interest and/or give a commitment to fundraise for the organisation.
  • As a member of the Marketing, Communications & Fundraising (MCF) Department, contribute and assist with the planning and development of the Special Olympics all island fundraising programme initiatives to achieve the organisation’s income target.
  • Assist in developing and implementing marketing and public relations initiatives.
  • Work with the MCF department and Regional Director to promote and maintain brand awareness of Special Olympics Ireland.
  • Establish and nurture strong working relationships and communications with Special Olympics Clubs in conjunction and cooperation with other regional staff and volunteers.
  • Motivate and engage current, and recruitment of new, regional volunteers to help plan and manage the fundraising initiatives.
  • Record regularly and accurately financial and fundraising data in the CRM system and in line with the organisation’s financial processes.
  • Apply high standards of organisation and planning in all fundraising and other events so as to maintain and protect the organisation’s reputation and to ensure the opportunity to maximise income is created.
  • Participate in cross-functional training as required from time to time.
